HEPA-filtered duct extraction
Air Duct Cleaning
Removes accumulated dust, debris, and contaminants from your HVAC system with HEPA-filtered vacuum extraction, with before and after photos.
What settles inside supply and return runs over the years
Every time your furnace or air conditioner runs, it moves the whole house of air through the ducts. Fine dust, pet dander and lint get pulled in at the return, and whatever the filter misses settles on the walls of the metal runs. Over years it builds into a grey layer you never see, because the only part of the system you look at is the register cover.
Some homes collect more than others. A house with pets, a family with allergies, a remodel that stirred up drywall dust, or a place that has simply sat for years between owners will all have heavier buildup. One customer, John Hageseth, had M&J clean his ducts in 2021 and wrote: "Now my ducts are clean and we can all breathe better."
That buildup is what the system recirculates, and it can leave a musty smell in the air and make the equipment work harder to push air through.

The M&J duct cleaning process, from system inspection to final photos
We begin with a full HVAC system inspection, looking at the ductwork and the condition of the system before anything is touched. Then we prepare the home: registers are removed so we can get direct access to the runs, and the system is set up so the debris we loosen is pulled out rather than pushed deeper in.
Extraction is done with powerful HEPA-filtered vacuums, so the dust we collect is captured instead of blown back into your rooms. We clean the supply ducts and the return ducts, and we clean the registers and grilles themselves before they go back on. If you want an extra step, an optional antimicrobial treatment is available for added freshness.
We take before and after photos, so you see what came out of your own system rather than taking our word for it. A customer who had just moved into a new place wrote that the crew "spent so much time and were so thorough with everything. Pix before cleaning and after." (sschierling)
How long it takes, how often to repeat it, and signs yours is due
A typical home takes 2-4 hours. You do not need to do much to prepare beyond clearing a path to the registers and moving small items and breakables out of the way.
For most homes, every 3-5 years is a sound schedule. Plan on sooner if you have pets, anyone in the house with allergies, a recent renovation, or you simply notice excessive dust settling on surfaces soon after you clean them.
Other signs worth acting on are dust blowing from the registers when the system starts, a musty smell when the heat or air comes on, and a house you moved into without knowing when the ducts were last cleaned.
