Lint removal and airflow testing

Dryer Vent Cleaning

Lint buildup in dryer vents is a leading cause of house fires. Our professional cleaning removes all debris, improving safety and dryer efficiency.

Lint buildup in dryer vents is a leading cause of house fires

Every load of laundry sends lint down the vent. The trap inside the dryer catches most of it, but not all, and the rest settles along the duct wall, in the bends and at the exterior cap. Lint is dry, fine and burns easily. Packed into a long run of duct with hot air blowing through it, it becomes the one thing in the laundry room you do not want to ignore.

A blocked vent also costs you in smaller ways before it ever becomes dangerous. Air that cannot leave the dryer keeps heat and moisture inside the machine, so clothes take longer to dry and the dryer works harder to do the same job. Most people blame the dryer when the real problem is the pipe behind it.

Because the buildup is hidden inside the wall or the floor, you cannot judge it by looking at the dryer. It takes pulling the machine out and looking down the line.

Disconnect, inspect, clean, test: how we clear a vent line

We start by safely disconnecting the dryer from the vent. That gives us direct access to the duct and lets us see what is really inside it, instead of guessing from the outside.

Next is a full vent line inspection, looking for blockages, crushed or sagging sections and spots where lint has packed in. Then the cleaning itself: powerful vacuums and a rotary brush remove the lint and debris from the whole length of the run, not just the first foot behind the dryer. We also check the vent connection to make sure the duct is attached firmly at the dryer and along the line, and we clean the exterior vent cap, where lint and debris tend to collect and block the air from leaving.

One customer, Mike Salerno, wrote of the service: "They were responsive and came out immediately to clean out my dryer vent. Would recommend."

Airflow tested before and after, and the signs your vent is due

We test the airflow before and after the cleaning. That is how you can tell the vent is actually open rather than just looking tidy at the end of the duct. Seeing the air move strongly out of the exterior cap is the clearest proof the line is clear, and we make sure the dryer is reconnected and operating properly before we leave.

Several signs say a vent needs attention. Clothes that take more than one cycle to dry, a laundry room that feels hot and humid when the dryer runs, a musty or burnt smell, or lint collecting around the outside vent cap are all worth a call. A cleaner vent also tends to shorten drying time and ease the strain on the dryer.
