Area Rug Cleaning

Specialized cleaning for oriental, wool and synthetic rugs, cleaned at our facility with pickup and delivery.

Why oriental, wool and synthetic rugs are cleaned at our facility

A rug is not a small piece of wall to wall carpet. Delicate oriental rugs, wool rugs and synthetic rugs each respond differently to water, solution and handling, and a rug that has been on your floor for years has soil settled deep between the fibers. Cleaning it on the living room floor leaves little room to do the job properly, so we take the rug to our facility instead.

That is also why we use a method matched to each rug rather than one routine for every piece. A fine wool rug and a synthetic one from a child's bedroom need different care, and the dyes in a hand made rug need to be respected before anything wet touches them.

For homes in Fort Collins and Northern Colorado, pickup and delivery is part of the service, so you do not have to roll up and haul a heavy rug yourself.

The job starts when we carefully pick up your rug from your home. Back at the facility, each rug is inspected for stains and damage, so we know what we are dealing with and can tell you about it before cleaning starts.

Next comes dust and debris removal, which lifts out the dry soil that has worked its way down into the pile. Then we run color fastness testing, which checks whether the dyes will hold before any cleaning solution is applied. The cleaning method is then customized to the rug in front of us, using the approach that suits its fiber and construction.

The fringe gets its own attention. Fringe cleaning and grooming is part of every rug we wash, because fringe is the first place a rug looks tired and the easiest place to leave an otherwise good cleaning looking unfinished. When it is done, your clean rug is returned looking beautiful.

Moth larvae and eggs, and how to care for a rug between cleanings

Wool is what moths like best, and rugs that sit under furniture or in a rarely used room can quietly host them. A professional cleaning eliminates moth larvae and eggs, which is one reason valuable wool and oriental rugs benefit from regular washing and not only from a vacuum.

Between cleanings, keep up with vacuuming, turn the rug now and then so wear is spread evenly, and deal with spills right away by blotting rather than rubbing. If something has already set into the pile, leave it alone and call us instead of working on it, since scrubbing can spread a stain or drive it deeper.
